Good for faces and number plates.
No areas hidden yet.

The hidden areas are permanently covered in the downloaded image, and its hidden photo data has been removed too.
How to blur or redact part of an image
Pixelate, blur or black box — which is safest?
Black box is the only method that's guaranteed irreversible, because the original pixels are completely replaced with solid colour. Use it for anything sensitive in text form: card and account numbers, passwords, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and ID numbers.
Pixelate and Blur look more natural and suit faces, number plates and backgrounds. Keep the strength high for small text: researchers have shown that lightly blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be reconstructed, especially when the attacker can guess the font and the type of content.
What should I hide before sharing a screenshot?
- Names, usernames and profile pictures of other people in chats
- Email addresses and phone numbers
- Bank, card and order numbers, balances and transaction IDs
- Home address, delivery details and QR codes or barcodes (they can contain personal data)
- Browser tabs, bookmarks and notification previews you didn't mean to include
Bonus: hidden photo data is removed too
Photos from phones often contain GPS location and device details in their metadata. Because this tool creates a brand-new image, the download contains none of that. If you only want to remove metadata without covering anything, use our photo metadata remover.
Frequently asked questions
Can someone undo the blur on my image?
The edits are permanently merged into the downloaded image, so they can't be "removed" like a layer. However, weak blur or pixelation on text can sometimes be guessed. For sensitive text always use the Black box style.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything happens inside your browser. The image never leaves your device.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Drag with one finger to draw a box. Pinch-zooming the page can help with small areas.
Can I blur the whole background except one person?
This tool hides rectangular areas, which is ideal for faces and text. To isolate a person from their background, try our background remover.
Will the image quality drop?
Only the covered areas change. PNG images are saved losslessly; JPG photos are saved at high quality (92%).
