Which page size should I choose?

A4 (210 × 297 mm) is the standard paper size in most of the world. US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) is used in the United States and Canada. If the PDF will only be viewed on screen — say, a portfolio or a set of screenshots — choose Same as image: every page takes the exact shape of its picture with no white borders.

Tips for scanning documents with your phone

  • Photograph pages on a dark, plain surface so the edges stand out.
  • Use daylight or a bright lamp and avoid your own shadow falling across the page.
  • Hold the phone directly above the page, not at an angle, so text isn't distorted.
  • Use our crop tool first if you need to trim the background around each page.

Making the PDF smaller

Phone photos are large, so a 10-page PDF can easily exceed email limits. The Smaller file option scales each page down to a sensible print resolution and compresses it, typically cutting the PDF size by 70–90% while keeping text readable. For even more control, compress your images before adding them.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on the number of images?

No fixed limit. Everything is processed on your device, so very large batches depend on your device's memory. Dozens of photos work fine on any modern phone or computer.

Are my documents uploaded?

No. The PDF is created inside your browser. That makes the tool safe for IDs, contracts, bank statements and other private documents.

Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos to PDF?

Convert them with our HEIC to JPG tool first, then add the JPGs here.

Will transparent PNGs look right?

Yes. Transparent areas are placed on a white page, just as they would be when printed.

How do I turn a PDF back into images?

Use our PDF to Image tool, which saves every page as a JPG or PNG.

Can I add a password to the PDF?

Not at the moment. The PDF is created without a password, so treat it like any other document when sharing.
