How to watermark photos
Corner watermark or repeating pattern?
A small corner watermark at 50–70% opacity is the most common choice for photographers, artists and small shops: it credits you without distracting from the picture. However, a corner mark can be cropped off. A repeating pattern across the whole photo is much harder to remove, which makes it the better choice for proofs you send to clients before payment, or for images that are often stolen, such as product photos.
Tips for an effective watermark
- Keep it short — a name, @handle or domain is enough.
- Use white with a soft shadow; it stays readable on both light and dark areas.
- Lower the opacity until it's noticeable but not the first thing people see.
- Keep your originals. Watermarks can't be removed from the downloaded copy, so always save the clean version.
Does a watermark protect my copyright?
In most countries you own the copyright to your photos automatically, watermark or not. A watermark doesn't change that legal position, but it makes it clear who the owner is, discourages casual copying and helps people find you when your image is shared.
Frequently asked questions
Can I watermark many photos at once?
Yes. Add as many photos as you like; the same watermark settings are applied to every one and they download together as a ZIP file.
Can I use my logo?
Yes. Choose "Logo image" and pick your logo file. A PNG or SVG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Watermarks are added in your browser and your photos never leave your device.
Will the watermark look the same on photos of different sizes?
Yes. The size is set as a percentage of each photo, so it appears in the same proportion on small and large images.
Can I remove a watermark with this tool?
No. Removing other people's watermarks is usually a copyright violation, and this tool is designed to protect images, not strip protection from them.
