How to beautify a screenshot
Why bother styling a screenshot?
A raw screenshot posted to social media tends to blend into the feed and can look cramped. Adding space, a background and a subtle shadow gives it the polished "product shot" look you see from app makers and design teams. It draws the eye, frames the important part and makes your post look intentional — handy for launch announcements, tutorials, portfolios, bug reports and app-store images.
Hide private details first
Screenshots often capture more than intended: email addresses, names in chats, browser tabs, account numbers. Run the image through our blur & redact tool before styling it, so nothing private ends up in your post.
Best sizes for sharing
- X (Twitter) and LinkedIn: 16:9 shows in full in the feed.
- Instagram: 1:1 or 4:5 — 4:5 takes up more space on screen.
- Docs, blogs and README files: Auto keeps the screenshot's own shape with even padding.
Frequently asked questions
Is my screenshot uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, which matters because screenshots often contain private information.
What resolution is the download?
The screenshot keeps its full original resolution, with the background and frame added around it, and is saved as a lossless PNG.
Can I use a transparent background?
Yes — choose the checkerboard swatch. The result keeps the rounded corners and shadow on a transparent PNG.
Why doesn't "Copy to clipboard" work?
Copying images requires a recent browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox 127+). If it isn't supported, use Download instead.
